I have been busy over the past year or so, and have not had time to write much. All of the cheering and traveling and nesting doesn't leave much time to blog on the number one VT site on the net!
Today I have allotted a precious few minutes in order to talk to you about my number one concern for the foreseeable future, the University of North Carolina. Perhaps you've heard of the oldest public university in the nation or the greatest basketball mind of all time, Dean Smith. We're all very well versed in the history of the school. Did you know however, that they've begun fielding a yearly football team? That is correct. When they let me into the conference, I had no idea that I would actually have to compete on the gridiron with Ramses, the mascot by which others are judged by.
But alas, it is true, and Saturday at 3:30, I, your beloved hokie bird, will have to pay the piper, and face Ramses. I'm writing this as a public service announcement, I am advising all hokie bird fans to stay home and turn off your tv's and radio's. I want hokie nation to remember me as I once was, a proud non flying hokie, and not what I will be Saturday night, a downtrodden hobbling hokie, yet another victim of Ramses' ruthless march through the ACC.
So on Saturday, go where you go and do what you do, but please do not witness my embarrassment, for the shame is more that I can overcome. As the experts are predicting a win for the Tar Heels, with Ramses on the field, I can only imagine that the same will be true for yours truly, thehokiebird.

Hokie Bird, you pulled through, even in the face of the Great Ramses. You cast away fear and pulled through with great heart and determination. You represented your Hokie nation well and we salute you along with the team and Coach Beamer.
Go Hokies!
